Our Catholic Culture

St Joseph's School Temuka —

Our school is based on the values of the Josephite Order, which was founded by Saint Mary MacKillop.

Mary MacKillop suffered tremendous personal hardship during her life. She experienced poverty and the constant breaking up of her family as they moved from place to place to find work. Besides poor health, Mary endured humiliation and misunderstanding but her sense of God's presence and love gave her strength and courage.

The values that we teach in our school are the Gospel values that Mary believed and lived through her life. To find out about Saint Mary MacKillop, click here.

How do we live this through our school? Each term we adopt one of these values. Classes then break these down to a weekly focus to guide students during the week.

Each week we begin with a school prayer liturgy. This is our opportunity to celebrate and praise God as a community.

When we use the thinking hats, we have a 'What would Jesus do?' purple hat.
