The Essence Of It All
One of the most important parts of the gospels, the Beatitudes, were shared at mass on Sunday with students delving more into this in their classes. We hope this child friendly version may help you to discuss these with your children at prayer time at home, especially what these look like in our daily lives. This is the essence of what being a Catholic in our world means, and if we remember these then we have a great map to live our life by as Catholics.
This week we also celebrate both All Saints and All Souls days. These days are great opportunities to discuss with our children.
- Pray together in our family for those in our whanau who have passed away.
- Share photos of those who have died and relive special memories.
- Make a piece of art to remember the person.
- Write a card to the person telling them what you would like to be to say to them.
- Write a message on a balloon, then inflate and let it float away.
- Light a candle in a prayer area at home in honour of a special loved one who has passed.
- If children are named after a saint who is this and what is the inspiration behind the name?
- Is there a Saints name that flows through your family?
- Share some of the stories of saints old and new.
Below is a link to a very modern day saint, who is to canonized very soon.
He is a saint of our time, who played basketball, video games and was a normal kid of this generation except that everything he did was in honour and glory of God. A brilliant story to share with teenagers showing the life of one of their age and what he could achieve.

School Mass
Our school mass for this term on Sunday 29 November and will celebrate our graduating Yr 8 students. The combined parish mass will not be held this year due to Fr Jolly only recently returning with no time to organise this. We look forward to seeing all of our students and their families at this mass in school uniform.
