Swimming Sports - Year 3-6
Friday 7 March - Temuka Swimming Pool
Swimming Sports Year 3 - 6 combined with Winchester and Arowhenua Schools
When: Friday 7th March
Venue: Temuka Swimming Pool
Start Time: 9:30am (Students will leave from school at 9:00am and walk down to be at the pool to start at 9:30am)
Finish time: Around 2:00pm
The swimming sports is organised based on a “rolling” nature of start times throughout the day from the initial start time of 9:30am as we progress through each of the events. However, as a general guide the order of races is outlined on the other attached note so we know where we are up to as the day proceeds.
Children who enter length races in any particular stroke cannot also enter ½ length races in that same stroke but can in other strokes which they have not entered into at the length level.
The definition of all ½ length races is from one side of the learner’s pool to the other side and back again.
Children need to take a polar fleece or sweatshirt to wear between races if cold, a sunhat for protection as well as 2 towels and togs. They should also apply sunscreen in the morning before coming to school. Could everything please be named (even goggles for those who have them).
Children – There will be an area sectioned off for children on the grass beside the playground where they will sit in their school groups. Parents are asked to keep away from this competitor marshalling area to aid in the efficient organisation of swimmers.
Parents - A few picnic tables are available at the finishing end of the pool as well as the seats along the back wall and outside the changing sheds. Please parents keep to these areas, away from the pool and the competitors for everyone’s safety and to allow officials to do their job.
We do ask if all children can stay right to the end to be a part of and support the final results / announcements / prizegiving.
If the weather does not allow proceedings to take place then the event will be cancelled as unfortunately there is no postponement date. Here’s hoping for clear skies and a fun day.
