Tekapo Ice Skating / Star Gazing Trip

Please find below (and attached) information regarding the Ice Skating / Stargazing trip to Tekapo (tomorrow) Thursday 4 July. 

  • VENUE: Alpine Springs and Spa Winter Park

  • FOR: All Students

  • DATE: Thursday 4th July 2024

  • TIMES: Leave school at 9.15am, returning approximately 3.00pm Everyone assembles at school at 8.45am for a briefing of the day

  • COST: All students costs are covered by school. If parents wish to skate, you are required to pay when you get to rink. If you are wanting to go with students to the star gazing there is a subsidised cost of $15 an adult.

  • FOOD: Bring own lunch, morning/afternoon snacks, and drinks. Food can be purchased at the venue.

  • SAFETY: Please ensure all skaters are wearing gloves for hand protection. Cycle helmets are compulsory for all skaters they will be distributed at the rink. We also recommend the wearing of warm clothing and advise a change of clothing.

  • SKATE FITTING: Please fill out your child’s shoe size on the goggle form.

  • CANCELLATION: School Facebook page on the day for postponements/Hero message

  • TIMETABLE:

    10:30 – Year 0-2 arrive at Dark Sky Project 1 - Motuariki Lane Tekapo near playground

    10:30 – Years 3-8 arrive at Alpine Springs -Skating

    11:15 – Year 3-5 Leave their skates and helmets and belongings and are transported to the Dark Sky Project 1

    11:30 – Year 0-2 arrive at Alpine Springs – Skating

    12:15 – Year 6-8 Return skates/helmets. Take their belongs with the to Dark Sky Project

    12:30 – Year 3-5 students return to the Alpine Springs -Skating

    1:30 – Year 6-8 play in the playground near the Dark Sky Project 1

    1:45-2:00 – Leave for Temuka.

Parents that have indicated they wish to join us at the Night Sky Project have been split up to go with different groups. Please rest assured you will be with one of your children. We appreciate your flexibility.
