St Joseph's School Temuka —

We've been incredibly busy maximizing the fantastic weather with a wide range of sporting opportunities. Our students have recently participated in the South Canterbury Triathlon and the Year 3-6 swimming sports. Tomorrow, our Year 7-8 students will compete in swimming sports alongside St Joseph’s Timaru and Sacred Heart. Next week, we have both a Year 5-6 and a Year 7-8 team heading to town for the Rippa tournament and South Canterbury Swimming Competition.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our parents, who generously volunteer their time to transport students and assist with running the teams on event days. Without their invaluable contributions, we simply couldn't offer such a diverse sporting program.

It's fantastic to see so many students choosing active travel by biking and scootering to school! To ensure everyone's safety and visibility, please remind your child to wear their school vest.  Due to increasing traffic and congestion, we've established clear guidelines for bike and scooter use within the school grounds:

Bikes: May only be ridden on the large field.

Scooters: May be used on the netball court area, provided the student is wearing a helmet.

To maintain safety during busy arrival and departure times:

Students entering or leaving through the small gate must walk their bikes and scooters to the shed.

At the large gate all students must dismount their bikes and scooters at the school gate and walk them into the school grounds.  After school students will walk their scooters and bikes out the big gate.  After exiting the large gate, bikers and scooter riders will walk: Left, towards the first wooden powerline or right, to the corner if traveling past the school in that direction.

Your cooperation in reminding students to observing these guidelines will help ensure a safe environment for all our students.
