St Joseph's School Temuka — February 4, 2025
At St Joseph’s School we understand and value the importance of fostering strong communication and collaboration between parents, teachers and students. As such, we want to provide you with some information regarding teacher availability to ensure that lines of communication remain open throughout the school year.
Our dedicated team of educators are committed to supporting the academic and personal growth of each student. To facilitate effective communication and collaboration, it's crucial to emphasise the significance of setting boundaries around teachers' availability. While our educators are dedicated to supporting students, it's equally important for them to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Clear communication and mutual respect ensure that teachers can be fully present when they engage with students and families.
Please ensure you are an active member of the school Hero app as Hero will be predominately used for all formal communications, newsletters etc.
Office Hours: Teachers will be available for parent meetings and discussions during 8.00am-5.30pm. We encourage parents to schedule appointments in advance to ensure availability. Please don’t expect an answer to a message outside these hours. If there are any issues please go to your classroom teachers first to discuss the concern.
Communication Channels: Parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers via email or message to schedule meetings or discuss any concerns regarding their child's progress. Our teachers are committed to responding to emails in a timely manner to address any questions or issues you may have.
Teacher email addresses are:
Brenna - principal@stjotemu.school.nz

Informing of Absences - can be recorded through the Hero portal, or by ringing the school 03 615 8206 – please state a reason why your child is absent.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: We will be organising parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year to provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions about your child's academic progress, strengths and areas for improvement. Information regarding conference dates and scheduling will be shared with you well in advance.
Virtual Options: In addition to in-person meetings, we understand that virtual communication may be preferred or necessary for some families. Our teachers are available to schedule virtual meetings via video conferencing platforms to accommodate your needs.
We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success. By maintaining open lines of communication and working together, we can create a supportive learning environment that nurtures the growth and development of every child.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child's education. We look forward to a fantastic school year filled with learning, growth, and success!
