Catch up on what's happening in Room 4
Room 4’s awesome learning… so far!
At the beginning of term, when it was still Autumn, we took advantage of the season and the beautiful leaves to make leaf art. Thank you, Mrs Blogg, for the awesome art idea!
Science and Inquiry
This term, our focus has been on Flight and the 4 forces of flight – gravity, lift, drag and thrust. So far, we have looked at gravity and lift. We used Parachutes as an example as to how these forces work.
We have also tried to complete a science experiment to do with the Physical World each week. We have looked at why we need to wash our hands, windmills, magnets, parachutes and balloon rockets. The children have also completed writing about what they have seen or noticed after the experiment.
RE:
We have been learning about the Trinity. We have focused on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that God has given us. The children drew themselves and brainstormed all important gifts and talents God has given to them.
Pepeha:
Children have begun to learn their own pepeha and will soon complete some art to match!
Literacy:
Recently, we have been looking at syllables and how many syllables are in each word. Once we mastered this, we decided to make Haiku to show off our knowledge! A Haiku is a Japanese poem that is 3 lines. Each line must be a certain amount of syllables. For example, Line 1 and 3 has 5 syllables, and Line 2 has 7 syllables.
Enjoy reading a few of our Volcano Haiku below:
