Celebrate the festive season in Ōamaru with live music, fun activities, and the annual tree lighting.

The Waitaki District Youth Council invites everyone to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration on Friday, 28th November from 7.00pm to 9.30pm on Lower Thames Street, Ōamaru.

This family-friendly evening will feature live music from Saggy Britches Band, Luzette face painting, a bouncy castle, popcorn, and a sausage sizzle. Delicious food trucks will also be serving up local favourites throughout the evening.

Alongside the festivities, the Sustainable Christmas Market will be open for those looking to find eco-friendly and locally made gifts.

At 9.30pm, the much-anticipated moment arrives as the Christmas tree lights are switched on, bringing sparkle and cheer to the heart of Ōamaru.

Everyone is encouraged to support local families this festive season by bringing a canned food item or wrapped child’s gift to exchange for a BYO reusable coffee cup.
