School Starts With Charity

SMC —

St Margaret’s College staff started the school year by building 20 bicycles and donating them to Heart Kids families, followed by donating 150 school lunches to those in need through the Eat My Lunch initiative.

The activity formed part of the staff team building activity and resulted 20 youngsters getting the surprise of their lives when they walked into the SMC Gym with their parents to see gleaming new bikes waiting for them. Heart Kids is the only New Zealand charity providing support to those with congenital heart defects and childhood heart disease.
The school then supported the Eat My Lunch programme by providing each staff member with an Eat My Lunch meal. With Eat My Lunch, every lunch bought means they can give a lunch to a Kiwi kid who would otherwise go without.
It was a great way for all SMC staff to come together at the start of the year and support these amazing charities.
