Co-Curricular Timetable

Co-Curricular groups
Each week we will feature some details of the different co-curricular groups that are on offer at SMC, this week it is the turn of the tech team, Art Club and the Middle School Dance Company...

The tech team
From running Assemblies and Chapels to NCEA Dance Night and school Productions, the St Margarets Tech Team helps out with a lot of school events behind the scenes. In the Tech Team girls get trained to use the sound and lighting equipment in the auditorium and how to live stream and film events. As well as this some of the girls move on to learning about how the technical side of productions and shows is done, starting with designing the lighting concept to actually creating it with the equipment available and then finally running it at the shows. The technical team also teaches all of its members valuable personal skills such as teamwork, communication, quick thinking and problem-solving and how to work under pressure, skills that are valuable in all areas of life. If you would like more information about the tech team then please contact Hannah - fergush2@stmargarets.school.nz

Art Club
Art Club meets each Thursday, period 5 in GV103. The club has started this year with stencil artwork and is planning some exciting projects for later in the year. Feel welcome to come along even if you didn't sign up on the sign-up day! If you would like more information about the Art Club then please contact Zelle Logan - loganz@stmargarets.school.nz

Middle School Dance Company
Middle School Dance Company is offered to girls in years 7-10. The company consists of between 20-25 members and provides girls with the opportunities to perform throughout the year. MSDC is about having fun and the girls perform multiple genres of dance styles. The MSDC will make their first public performance at Open Day later in the term.

Footloose
We are delighted to announce that this year’s production is Footloose! Footloose will be directed by James Tarbotton and will feature girls from Y9-13, boys will be invited from different schools in the city to audition.
Auditions will take place in week 6, details will be published on Student Notices and on the Arts noticeboards.
The performances are Monday 29 June -Thursday 2 July
More details will follow very soon!

Itinerant Music Lessons and Speech and Drama Lessons
We have had a wonderful response from the girls, if there are any last-minute forms waiting to be returned can you please get these in by this Friday. Wherever possible senior students will use a study period for their lesson - if it isn't possible then a senior student's lesson time will be rotated each week so that the same lesson is not hit in consecutive weeks.
Junior and Middle School students will have their lesson times rotated each week.
NO MUSIC LESSONS last an entire period - no student should ever miss an entire class period. Attendance is recorded by the Itinerant Teachers and these attendance records are taken to the School Office each day, at this point the girl attendance information will be updated.
Every effort is made to cause the least amount of disruption to academic classes, but please note that some Itinerant Teachers are not at school for very many hours and so they offer less flexibility with lesson times.
