SMC —

Through the immense effort of teachers Linda Chong and Paulette Double, along with a handful of dedicated parents, students and some SMC friends, we have turned a corner this winter and are getting ready for spring.

The Farmbot robot is operational and is going through its last software tests before seed planting. We are grateful to Oderings for the soil and seeds they have donated. The children cannot wait to see the robot in full swing.

After receiving a generous donation from Ashtons Garage Doors of four beautiful planter boxes we also have ambitions to revamp the junior garden . We want to involve girls of all ages and have great ambitions to grow food we can eat. To do so, we need more supplies. Please let us know if you can help with any donations of gardening gloves, disposable face masks, child-friendly garden tools, seedling pots and strawberry and herb plants for our kitchen garden.

Or if you have any old items you would like to up-cycle, our budding gardeners would really appreciate it. As well as our Sunday meet ups we will be starting an after-school gardening and coding club after school.

We thank the Bleeker family for their original donation of soil and seeds that got us all started. The Dobson Family for the donation of the compost bin. One of our learning activities is how to manage and feed that!
