SMC —

Junior School Sports is thriving this term thanks to the commitment of Bindy O’Callaghan and the support of the Sports Department.

This year, for the first time, we had students enter under the SMC name for the Weetbix Tryathlon. Bindy’s aim next year is to double the entries! We have also started Kelly Sports on Wednesday afternoon, Tennis Hot Shots and Flipper Ball run during the lunch hours and swim clubs twice a week. Added to this are our students representing our school in the up and coming Independent Zone Swimming Champs and our Year 5 & 6’s in the Canterbury Primary School’s Duathlon plus a hugely successful Year 4- 6 Swimming Sports event.

Soon, Winter Sports will be underway and once again, we are spoilt for choice. We are entering our first Basketball team next term as well as entering teams in each year level in hockey and netball competitions. Added to this, we will be sending representatives to many Canterbury Primary Sports events throughout the term.

Don’t forget that Cross Country comes up very early in term two, so now might be the time to dust off those runners so you can train with your daughter! Good luck!
