A huge day and we are all very proud of how Millie and her pony, Eastdale Henrietta have achieved this season

Polo
Skye Turner has been selected into the New Zealand Under 21 emerging players team for the curtain raiser of the NZ vs Australia game on the 8th of December.

Softball
Trinity Mackley-Flutey has been selected into the Canterbury U15 team and will be competing in a tournament in Christchurch this weekend. The team will also travel to Palmerston North in January for the National tournament.
Liyah and Natashia Faga-ieti are both playing Premier Women’s Softball for the Halswell Club. They were named in the Canterbury Women’s Red Hawks (Canterbury Women’s) last week to compete this weekend, however they will be travelling to compete at the New Zealand Condor Rugby Seven’s for SMC instead.
Both girls will be travelling as members of the Halswell Premier Women’s Softball Team to Wellington in March 13-17 to defend their performance from last year when they finished in the top 6 in the NZ Club Women’s Championship.

Rowing
With little wind and only a few rain showers our rowers were able to get their competitive season underway at the Ashburton Regatta over the weekend.
Our rowing team will head north on December 7 to compete at the Nelson Regatta before setting up camp at Lake Rotoiti for a valuable camp week. After that it is holiday time with self-directed programmes to ensure the girls continue to build their strength and fitness. In January the team will reconvene with a training camp and the Canterbury Club Champs at Lake Ruataniwha.

Tennis
The Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Junior championships were held this week. Piper Smith played in the singles and Izzy Kotzikas and Lily Gamble played in doubles matches. Good to see our younger players gaining valuable tournament and match experience.

Touch
Our junior sports team have continued to shine in Term Four with the weekly competition and tournaments galore. We were very proud of our Year 9/10 Touch team who made the final of the inaugural Junior Elite competition. Despite losing to ChCh Girls High School, the girls displayed some great promise and we look forward to these players coming through the ranks and into our Super Touch team in the future.

Volleyball
Fantastic teamwork from our Junior A Volleyball team who continued their great work from their second placing at Canterbury Secondary Schools’ to secure a win over Cashmere and take out the Term Four competition.
These girls are competing in Dunedin in the Junior South Island Tournament this week and so far have recorded wins v Marlborough Girls, Lincoln High School and Nayland10A in initial pool play. Crossover games against Taieri College, Nayland 9A and Burnside High School resulted in a semi-final placing. Our semi-final game against Waimea was a tight tussle, however our girls rose to the challenge winning 2-1 to book a place in the final v Burnside. What a way to finish the year with

Water Polo
What a way to finish her Water Polo years at SMC with selection into the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ team – Huge Congratulations to Annabel Norris who is fulfilling her dream of playing for New Zealand.
Annabel will play against Australia in a test series from 18 – 20 December.
Our Year 9/10 team have won the weekly competition, taking out the final v Rangi Ruru 18-10.
They then played in the Junior South Island tournament last weekend in Christchurch and after a mammoth semi-final where the score was tied up at 12-12 at full time, our girls dominated the penalty shoot-out for a well-deserved spot in the final with a 15-12 win against Marlborough Girls. This time around the Rangi girls were too strong and SMC had a narrow 2 point loss.
Well done to Georgia Reed and Jemma Burrowes who were named in the tournament team.
Exciting to see the depth of skill in these young players, many of whom will go on to play for our Senior team in Term One 2019.
