Leap Day 2020 turned out fine for the great Hirepool x Sustainable Coastlines Beach cleanup. SMC students from Year 12 and 13 spent the afternoon picking up rubbish to help clean up the coast.

Our patch was Lyttelton and the surrounding bays, while other groups in Christchurch were based around Sumner and New Brighton. Thanks to the efforts of all our volunteers, the SMC group filled more than 30 bags with litter and left the harbour bays much better than we found them! We are proud of SMC's contribution to the protection of our beautiful beaches. Enjoy your next swim or walk around the bays.
