Exciting new developments in our SMC Sports Team - we've listened to your feedback and strengthened our approach to sports at all levels.

Helen Belcher our Director of Sport who has the overview and direction for all codes at all levels, awards, events and athlete wellbeing, has pulled together a strong team.

New to the team this year is Jo Fogarty, who joins as Coach Administrator. She will use her 17 years experience in the school sports sector to provide support for all SMC coaches, including coach education, coach and athlete development opportunities.

Sharon Lloyd, Assistant Director of Sport looks after all the weekly competitions, draws and results and bookings for tournaments and trips. 

We're very fortunate to have former Silver Ferns captain, Julie Seymour, as Sports Facilitator who oversees the Sports Accelerator Programme for Y10-13 students and also runs three lunchtime fitness classes each week for students and staff.

Bindy O'Callaghan, is dedicated to all areas of sport in the Junior School including communication with parents and students regarding competitions, tournaments and weekly games and also assists and oversees the organisation of Junior School Swimming Sports, Swim Carnival, Athletics Day and Cross Country. 

And Louise Eder, Assistant Sport Administrator who administers the sport newsletter and results, collates results and photos for the fortnightly school newsletter and is Touch Convenor. 

Sports Council - a group of Year 12 and 13 students who assist with the running of school sporting events and who promote SMC Sport

Sports Prefects - Olivia Parker and Josie Persico - our student Sport Leaders for 2020

Sports Committee - this is a group of staff members with an interest in sport who meet four to six times a year. The committee convenes to support the Sport Department in its role to maintain and improve the Sports programmes on offer across the school. Agenda items include deliberations on honours applications, sports awards and analysis of post-season satisfaction surveys. 

Our Sports Awards criteria and procedure is also under review and we look forward to sharing this with the school community in the near future.
