Eco-Action Nursery Trust

SMC —

The 12 schools that are part of the Eco-Action Nursery programme were invited to send delegates to join a representation for a meeting at the Christchurch City Council last week.

Raha Walker (Y13) and Youyu Zhang (Y12) joined representatives from Christ's College, Rangi Ruru, Shirley Boys' High School, Avonside Girls' High School and Christchurch Girls HighSchool.

The students did a Powerpoint presentation for the city councillors and answered questions such as 'Why is growing and planting native trees important to you?' and 'How does it make you feel being part of this project?'

SMC provides sponsorship to the Eco-Action Nursery Trust and has also taken responsibility for our own planting at Beacon Street reserve in an effort to rejuvenate red-zoned land.
