Learning Out and About

Jennie Nairn - DP Teaching and Learning —

With lifelong learning being the wellbeing focus for this fortnight, it is very relevant to focus ‘Learning Out and About’ on our fantastic class of adults who come back to school to learn about technology.

Between 10-15 adults come to St Margaret’s every week to upskill on the use of their mobile devices. These older adults are keen to use technology to enhance their everyday lives. The group, T3A (Technology for the 3rd Age), work on skills that are specifically relevant to them as a group or individual, so they are the students at the centre of learning. They love being up to date with the most current ‘young persons techie speak’, being able to keep in touch with family members young and old, and being able to know exactly what is going on globally. It has been many years since they were students in a school but what an incredible group of lifelong learners to be motivated with open minds and the confidence to continue to embrace learning.
