SMC —

We had a really content packed meeting in April and it was great to see so many parents come along in person to interact with the Principal and the Board representatives to share their views on what is happening at SMC.

We had a really good debate over how best the funds we raise through the school could be used through this year and upcoming years. Our focus this year is to think about what are quick wins the PFA can make to help with small items throughout the year, but also get involved in the school’s longer-term plan. Lots of ideas were bounced around … some achievable some had much larger ambitions (spa pools and slushy machines in every classroom !!!). But seriously, it was really great to hear all the different viewpoints from parents as to what they and their daughters view as important. We would really like for you to ask your girls if they could ask for improvements to the school what would they wish for. This exercise has already led us to look into adding more bike racks, so please keep your ideas coming to pfa@stmargarets.school.nz.

At every meeting, Diana gives a Principal’s update, and at this meeting, Diana shared lots of detail covering sporting achievements, international trips, her thoughts on the NZ High School Ranking results. We had a photo update on maintenance work done around the school, details on the recycling initiative and a sneak peek at new uniform items being designed. Diana asked for our feedback on strategy documents the school is working on and opened up for any parent who was particularly passionate about any of the areas discussed to get involved. A copy of the presentation is up on the school website under PFA.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 11 June at 7pm in the Staff Room which is located around the back of the building where reception is located. Join us for some nibbles and a coffee as we talk through the events of the past month. The PFA Committee look forward to seeing you there. Any queries contact us at pfa@stmargarets.school.nz
