SMC Teacher Awesomeness

SMC —

Living by the maxim, if you can't see her, you can't be her, we thought it was time to shine the light on what some of our extraordinary staff get up to in their spare time. And this week we change the 'her' to a 'him' as we feature our Performing Arts teacher James Tarbotton.

Recently, performing arts teacher James Tarbotton took part in the Showbiz Christchurch production of Miss Saigon. He played the American Marine character named John Thomas. John is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, stationed in Saigon with his best friend, Chris Scott, the musical's male lead.

Kate Divett from Backstage Christchurch had this to say about James' performance: "James Tarbotton (John) drew enthusiastic and well-deserved applause from the audience after his moving performance in the opening of Act 2."

James has appeared in a number of Showbiz Christchurch productions and also recently played Javert, one of the lead roles in in Les Miserables - such amazing inspiration for the girls!
