They are two Y10 SMC girls who are heading to Australia to represent New Zealand at the Hufglocken Grand Nationals Show. Mimi Dyer and Millie Harris tell their stories...

Hello, I’m Mimi Dyer and I've been selected as part of the New Zealand Show team competing in the 2018 Hufglocken Grand Nationals Show in Sydney in March.

I am 14-years-old and have been riding for 12 of those years. This will be my first overseas show and I am very excited. It is watched on the live stream by 55,000 people and up to 9,000 people watch at the grounds, which is where the Sydney Olympics were held.

There are 11 people from across New Zealand have been selected to go to the show and amazingly two of us are Year 10 from St Margaret's College. I’m lucky enough to know all of the team from other shows I have gone to, and have idolised some of the other people in my team and now I am riding with them - this is pretty cool. 

We are holding a Fundraiser here at St Margaret’s College on Tuesday 6 March, to help us get there, call Marinated and Grilled, and there are still a few tickets available if you want to come along.

This is a dream come true for me!

I’m Millie Harris and I'm 14-years-old in Year 10 at St Margaret's College. Recently I have been selected into the New Zealand showing team for 2018 and I will be competing at Grand Nationals in Sydney. I have been riding for about five years and I have done three show seasons.

Some of my biggest achievements have been winning the Branston Trophy in 2016 and then the Nydfa 2017 at Christchurch A&P show. I also recently won the Open Paced and Mannered Pony at NZ National Showcase Championship Show.

I am so excited to be going to Australia to represent my country in the sport I love!

Marinated & Grilled takes place on Tuesday 6 March, 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the Atrium at SMC. It features a cooking demonstration with Richard Hingston, the international award-winning Executive Chef from Christchurch Casino, and his team with complimentary drink and nibbles, and an auction.
