Middle School Theatresports success
Congratulations to our Middle School Theatresports team made up of Anna Babington, Maddie Coughlan, Tessa Durkin, Scarlett Girvan and Tyana Rutherford, who competed yesterday at the Junior Theatresports Heats. It was a very close battle and the girls came second to Rolleston College who only beat our girls by half a point!
The team did us proud and demonstrated excellent technique and a great sense of fun! They have only been working as a dedicated team since Term 3 and have shown excellent team work and commitment.
A massive thanks to Feya Durkin who has been an extraordinary coach this year and to Georgia Lassen and Rosie Milne for their help too.

Middle School Dance Co take the stage!
Middle School Dance Company provided a fabulous welcome to our 2021 Y9 girls and parents, the girls performed twice showing the breadth of choreography that they have developed and perfected this year. The girls also took the stage in spectacular style at the Middle School Arts Assembly

Hearts of Glass
Our brilliant Middle School Rock Band - Hearts of Glass took the stage performing “No Roots” the girls to welcome the 2021 Y9 girls at Orientation Day last week, and this week they took the stage again to perform at the Middle School Arts Assembly. These girls are a brand new group this year, the band is made up of Millie Edwards - vocals, Charlotte Brown - vocals, Emily Chambers - bass, Niamh Hoare - guitar, Makayla Hulme - drums

Junior Performing Arts
During Term 4, the Junior School have been enjoying the opportunity to perform to audiences again. The whole Junior school enjoys meeting weekly practising Kapa Haka. They put on a great performance for the Leavers Assembly in Term 4. A new initiative this year was the ‘Big Sister Little Sister’ Y1 and Y2 Dance group. This was run by two Y10 students Gemma Hardcastle and Caitlin Dufty. They met weekly on Wednesday lunchtimes and the Junior girls thoroughly enjoyed their sessions with them. The group put on a brilliant performance for Grandparents Day.

The Y1-3 Choir delighted audiences at Grandparents Day with their songs about Kindness. One of the songs they performed ‘K-I-N-D’ was written by Christchurch based Children’s singer/songwriter Michal Bush. Thank you to Miss Goldsworthy for running the Y1-3 Choir this year.

Itinerant Music Concert
On Tuesday 17 November, at 3.45pm SMC Music will be staging a concert for our itinerant music teachers and their students. This will be an informal concert and will be a lovely opportunity to hear what these students have been doing this year. This will be held in the Charles Luney Auditorium.
