Junior School News

SMC —

We had a fabulous day last Friday for International Day. The colour, excitement and passion that the students brought to this day was amazing.

Giving the girls the opportunity to celebrate their culture and heritage by dressing accordingly, allows them to celebrate who they are, talk to each other through a different lens and make stronger connections. In the words of Diana Patchett, it’s a small world after all in the Junior School.

Last week, we also celebrated student success through our Awards Assembly. The celebration of girls who live and led our REDS values to make a difference to their learning is an important part of our Junior School. We also introduced our Certificate of Outstanding Achievements for students who are displaying excellent or outstanding work or contribution in academic, sporting, cultural, artistic, community service, leadership endeavour or Junior School Values.

And whilst we are singing from the rooftops, congratulations to Charlotte Maxwell who placed 8th at the Canterbury Primary Schools Cross Country Race and has been selected for the Canterbury team to compete at Nationals in Hanmer. And to Connie Newton successfully auditioning for the Christchurch Music Festival Special Choir.
