Magnetic levitation and playing with motors were both highlights of a recent visit to the UC Electrical Engineering department by the Level 2 Physics class.

The high tech environment gave them lots of opportunities to experiment with the science they have been learning. In the energy conversion lab Ella Cowles was able to 'drive' an all-electric buggy. There was also a musical Tesla coil which played tunes using a high voltage discharge across a gap of about 10cm. And the girl’s got to put on lab coats to visit the clean room where circuits are etched.
