ISNZ Honours Award

SMC —

Kathryn Gray, Head of Middle School, has been honoured with a prestigious national award from the Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ). Kathryn has won an ISNZ Honours Award for her Service to Middle School Education.

Kathryn is an insightful, caring, and inspirational leader who has delivered an “outstanding model of independent education” during the past decade at St Margaret’s College.

She has overseen a wide variety of school and community initiatives and has led change management in both learning and pastoral care in the Middle School.

Kathryn developed and implemented St Margaret’s College’s Aspiring Leaders programme, introducing our Middle School girls to activities and experiences around New Zealand that contribute positively to building leadership skills and resilience - enabling them to become confident role models with a strong sense of community and belonging.

Under Kathryn’s leadership, the Middle School has also introduced the Rite Journey, as the culminating personal development programme for our Year 10 students. As a result of the efforts of our Middle School team, St Margaret’s College has since been recognised as the first School of Excellence for this programme nationally, and is one of only six schools in Australasia to earn a Lead School Award from The Rite Journey.

Congratulations also to Kathryn’s outstanding leadership team. Together, they provide a strong foundation and stability to encourage growth and initiative among our students, alongside fostering a spirit of fun and adventure.
