Old Girls return
This month we have been delighted to welcome back Old Girls Issy Randall and Mandy Manson, Issy and Mandy have been sharing their amazing dance skills with our girls.
Issy is back taking co-curricular ballet groups and Mandy recently joined the Senior Dance Company rehearsals...
On the 21 February, the Senior Dance Company girls were very fortunate to have Mandy Manson come in to share her experiences as a professional dancer. Mandy was our Head Of Dance for 2017 and since leaving SMC, she has travelled to Australia and Israel to learn from different renown choreographers. She taught the girls an excerpt from a piece that she performed with Kibbutz Dance Company in Israel. It was challenging, but the girls were able to pull through and execute the dance very well. Many thanks to Mandy for taking the time to visit us! We really enjoyed learning from you and are looking forward to more stories from your adventures. - Hannah Azharashid and Tessa Holley

Primary Schools’ Music Festival Representative Group Applications
I would like to let you know about an upcoming opportunity for any Year 5 - 8 girls who are accomplished singers or instrumentalists. The Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival will again take place in the Christchurch Town Hall Auditorium, from November 3 until November 6. The St Margaret’s College Year 5 - 7 girls, in addition to any interested Year 8 girls, will be participating on one of these days as part of the massed choir (date to be advised).
In addition to the massed choirs, the Festival also makes use of four Representative Groups in its performances. I would like to bring to your attention an opportunity open to your daughter to be a member of one of the Christchurch Primary Schools’ Music Festival Representative Groups.

Students are able to audition for these groups, which are:

Orchestra (Years 5 – 8)
Concert Band (Years 5 – 8)
Detailed information about all of the representative groups is available on the Festival website: http://musicfestival.school.nz /

If your daughter is interested in auditioning for any of these groups, an application needs to be completed on the Festival website by THURSDAY 9 APRIL. Please also let me know by

email ( rachel.wilford@stmargarets.school.nz ) if your daughter is applying so the music team can help prepare her for her audition.
