SMC goes plastic bottle free

SMC —

From the start of Term 4, we have made a commitment to go plastic bottle free in the school cafe in line with our school-wide vision for environmental sustainability.

Instead of buying plastic bottles of water, students will now be able to fill up their reusable drink bottles at one of the two new water fountains specially installed to support this initiative, alongside those already existing throughout the campus. Not only will this go a long way to reducing our carbon footprint, but we also hope it will help instil in the girls the importance of minimising waste. Last year, New Zealanders spent more than $92 million* on bottled water, an increase of $23 million* in three years - it's time to reverse the trend!
