A Trip to Paris

SMC —

The Year 10 French class went for a short trip to Paris last week. Crazy! Actually, they didn't go all the way to France but instead, they used virtual reality to get there.

The Center of Innovation lent Dr Stefanie Hossbach Head of Languages, cardboard goggles. Inside they placed their mobile phones playing a youtube video of Paris, and off they went on a 360-degree visit of the city. The girls visited some of the main tourist attractions - the unit of work they are combining learning about French culture with a revision of local prepositions in French, they talk in French about their experience, develop new vocabulary. The girls ultimately prepare for the main task to write a postcard in French, from a visit to Paris.

The integration of technology into learning is constantly increasing. This learning opportunity brings to life a famous city on the other side of the world, in a way a page does not. Being able to blend the best of the new with the value of traditional learning, gives us the best opportunity to engage our girls in learning. Très bien!
