Chinese Bridge

SMC —

The “Chinese Bridge” speech competition is the most famous international Chinese language competition for non-native speakers, having become a popular reality entertainment show on Chinese TV, and SMC Y12 Sohyun Kwon is in the running.

At the South Island competition, Sohyun won first place for her speech and first place for the talent show showing Chinese traditional culture. At the nationals, she placed fourth and qualified for the international competition!
Sohyun was invited to Wellington to receive her award and met Ambassador Wu Xi . She is still in the international competition, representing both SMC and New Zealand, which is being televised across China.

One of the components of the international competition is based on public voting. To support Sohyun you can vote on the Chinese Bridge Competition app until the end of this month. Sohyun is currently in first place but competition is fierce so she needs all the support she can get. Details on how to vote are outlined below.
Sohyun says, "While preparing for the various stages of this competition has been difficult, I am thankful for both my mandarin teachers for their support. I’m also looking forward to the rest of the competition with the support of SMC! Thank you!"
