SMC —

You are the hero of your own story...

The start of the year has flown by with everyone settling into school and coming to grips with the busyness of school life. This year has seen an increase in the number of Touch and Volleyball teams we have entered into the weekly competition.

Term One is always extremely busy with Athletics and Swimming Sports, Quad tournament as well as many Canterbury, South Island and National events. That’s not to even mention the weekly competition which is a main focus for our teams and then we run some of the winter sports trials on top of everything else.

We encourage the girls to keep communicating with the Sport Office and to keep checking Student Notices for all information.

It is important that all girls wear the correct uniform for all trainings, games and competitions. Please wear our uniform with pride, respect and commitment to your team and to SMC.

All the best girls.

Swimming Sports:
A great day for our Y7-13’s on 13 February as participation levels soared, encouraged no doubt by the hot temperatures. Results are listed separately and we will announce the House points at an assembly in a couple of weeks’ time.

Emily Barron broke the 50m Senior Backstroke record in a time of 33.20sec and RIMU broke the Year 12 medley relay record posting a time of 1.08.82

Our Year 4-6 girls had a day with much lower temperatures for their swimming sports, however they keenly contested the events.

Abby Mason finished in 2nd place in both the singles and mixed doubles at the National Junior Championships in the 14U grade in January – well done Abby.

Our A team of Abby, Annabel Coates, Ruby Spencer, Elizabeth Andre and Sophie White will be in Timaru this week competing in South Island championships.

Great success for our SuperTouch team last weekend who finished in 2nd place at Canterbury Secondary Schools’ tournament.
