Spanish Immersion Day

SMC —

The Y11 and 12 NCEA Spanish students recently attended a Spanish Immersion Day organised by the University's Spanish Department, the Spanish National Advisor from the Embassy of Spain and local Spanish teachers including our senior Spanish teachers Katherine Tyson and Claudia Carreno.

The girls participated in language and skills-focused workshops aimed at the NCEA Level they are currently studying. There was also a keynote speaker who shared her experiences of how Spanish has broadened her horizons as well as the opportunity to try authentic food thanks to the food trucks that came to provide lunch for those who wanted to try it.
This was the third Immersion Day put on at the University and based on feedback it was well-received by the students involved. It provided them with an opportunity to interact with other students learning Spanish and to be immersed in the Spanish language and culture.
