This week our student leaders talk to Mrs Eastwick.

What do you love most about your job at SMC?

This year I love that I get to work with students from all different year levels! It makes my job really exciting working with lots of different students each day.

Have you ever thought about a different career? What would you do for a job if you were not a teacher?

If I wasn’t a teacher I would definitely love to start up my own cake-baking business! I love to bake pretty, delicious cakes!

What would your “perfect day” look like?

A perfect day always begins with pancakes at home with my husband and daughter - Pippa loves to get involved with baking festivities!

We would work off our brekky with a walk around Godley Head or Hagley Park followed by a play at the nearest playground.

I am lucky to have all of my family live close by so a BBQ lunch at Mum and Dad’s with all of the wee cousins running around is a ‘perfect day’ must!

We would see the day out with a fish and chip picnic on the lawn and have lots of books and cuddles before Pippa goes off to bed.

Lastly, Mr Eastwick and I always enjoy a good action/crime movie on the couch at home to top off the day.

Do you have any heroes? Why do you admire that person?

My little girl is my superhero - She has faced and overcome so many challenges in her little life and she is the bravest, most resilient person I know!

What’s the best trip you have ever been on?

The best trip I have ever been on is to New York City at Christmas. It snowed, we had Christmas lunch at the Boathouse in Central Park, we watched Cinderella on Broadway, went ice skating under the giant Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center, watched the ball drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve. It was like every cheesy New York Christmas movie but so much more! I can’t wait to go back one day!

Quickfire-

What’s your Maggie’s order?
Hot chocolate!

The beach or the lake?
The Lake - Lake Wanaka and Lake Ruataniwha are two of my most favourite places in the world!

Singing or Dancing?
Dancing, always!
