A group of Year 11 and 12 SMC girls attended a weekend of negotiating and debating in the world of international politics at a model European Union held at the University of Canterbury.
Each girl represented a country – either New Zealand or one of the EU nations – a political party and a working group. SMC Emma Taylor, Y12, represented NZ, the Green Party and was part of the trade working group. The task was to negotiate a free trade agreement. Clearly Emma stood out during the debates as she was awarded one of the sort after scholarships to study Global EUrope 101 at UC next year.
