SMC —

St Margaret’s College’s Paterson Lodge, within Arthur’s Pass National Park, has been used and enjoyed by many past students and is the perfect location to enjoy some of New Zealand’s most spectacular landscapes.

Located on the northern second terrace of the Waimakariri and Hawdon Rivers, near the Hawdon Shelter and campground, the lodge has basic utilities such as a water supply, an internal enclosed fire heating with wetback, a four-burner gas stove, a bathroom with two sinks, a shower and a flushing toilet.

There are three bunk rooms with 15 single bunks in total each with a mattress and pillow, and a common room adjoining the kitchen area.

The hut is now available for hire to the SMC community, rates are similar to those of a DoC hut -
Adults: $15/night
Youth aged 8-16: $8/night

Or you can hire the entire facility for $195/night. Perfect for a group of two or three families.
The surrounding countryside is spectacular with many very accessible day walks perfect for the whole family and Castle Hill and Arthurs Pass Village are nearby.

Bring your own sleeping bags or sheets and blankets. The kitchen is equipped with cooking and eating equipment, including pots, pans, plates, cups and cutlery.
