Welcome from the Executive Principal

SMC —

Welcome to our new and returning students, staff and their families. Today we acknowledged the start of the 2018 academic year with a formal mihi whakatau/powhiri where all new students and staff were welcomed by current students and staff.

The focus of our Staff Professional Development Workshops this week has been two-fold: On whakawhanaungatanga and building relationships, plus haoura, student and staff wellbeing. At St Margaret's College our wish for each person is that she or he will grow and thrive surrounded by people who care about their wellbeing and personal and professional development.

People are only open to new learning or embracing new challenges and experiences if they are happy. Here at St Margaret's, when we talk about "happiness" we are referring to a state of deep wellbeing and personal awareness - the state of wellbeing that Maori call ‘hauora’.

We welcome and support everyone, both student and staff alike, as a unique and precious individual. We work in partnership with their whanau to ensure they flourish during their time with us.

Please keep in close contact with us throughout the year. Know that, while your daughter’s tutor in the Day School and house manager in the Boarding School are your first points of contact, there is a large pastoral and academic team behind each tutor to support you and your family.

We look forward to building relationships with you all this year.
