National Boarding Week has rounded off Week 3 of Term 3. Dani Coles and the boarding council designed a week of fabulous activities to recognise and celebrate all that boarding offers.

Boarding Week is a highlight across boarding schools in New Zealand. We look forward to celebrating this every year and this year was another hive of busyness for our boarding council.

Last Sunday our boarders celebrated the start of NZ Boarding week with a combined chapel service for all the Christchurch boarding schools.

We welcomed 14 new boarders at the start of term three. Our new boarders came from across the globe; UK, China, Australia, Korea and Japan. It has been delightful to see how understanding and welcoming our SMC boarders are and we are loving the cultural richness in the boarding houses.

We were thrilled to have three of our Year 13 boarders achieve to a national level in sport over the holidays, Molly Williams in Hockey and Te Ata Hassan and Ashlyn Koce in Netball. Caitlin Dufty, Year 12, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Music Award. Tess Morgan was part of the SMC equestrian team that triumphed over the weekend. We are very proud of them all.

What's happening now for our tweens and teens?

Its been a busy few weeks with our boarders featuring in a number of school and external activities as well as weekend boarding activities. The much awaited ski trip is scheduled for this weekend!

We loved catching up with our boarding mothers in Merivale on the last day of term two. We have another catch up organised at the end of Term 3 for all parents and caregivers

Term 3 has started with a couple of changes to our cafeteria for morning tea and lunch .
