Our Head of English, Deborah Matheson, opened this week’s Myers Cup finals with a reminder of the power of speech to inspire, to motivate and to make a connection with the audience. What followed were 10 fabulous examples proving that to be true.

Nat Hutton wins Canterbury Rockquest heats, Mimi Dyer selected as a finalist for Ara Songwriting competition, four of our seniors gain ATCL in Speech and Drama and Year 8s claim 3rd prize at Showquest.

We are already half-way through Term 2, which is a scary thought. The weeks certainly do fly by, as the results from all our girls sporting achievements flood the office on a daily basis.

Front runners in the new digital curriculum Year 1 and 2 have been developing their computational thinking skills. Our pirate topic has drawn us to creating treasure maps. The girls have used cardinal points (North, East, South, West) to plot routes to their treasure. Students have learnt how to write code and ‘debug’ their pathways and use the directions as an algorithm (clear set of accurate instructions).

Can you help the PFA with upcoming events? As we head into June we are in full swing for preparations to support our wonderful Arts Department. The teaching staff would love volunteers to help support running the bar for the senior production of “Grimm Tales” on Monday 1st July, Tuesday 2nd July and Wednesday 3rd of July.

The St Margaret's College Foundation is very excited to announce they will be running a Silent Auction as part of the upcoming Winter Wonderland Ball.

In the first Materials Rotation of Wood Technology, the Y9 students have cut more than shapes and created boxes for a specific purpose - addressing individual storage needs.

Our cafe works to deliver healthy and delicious food for our girls. Here's what's on next week's menu. Please note the cafe will be closed on Thursday 6 June for House Day and there will be no Junior School lunches on that day.

SMC provides a physiotherapy service on Monday 9am - 2pm and Thursday 10am - 3pm in our Health Centre.
