St Paul's Collegiate School hosted the annual Asia Pacific Young Leaders Convention (APYLC) with representatives from schools in New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia and China. Each school sent eight Year 12 students with teachers and school principals to attend the five-day leadership event. 

The theme for the convention was 'Beauty in the Outdoors' and students were asked to present a unique aspect of their school. The principals also presented, ‘Beyond the Classroom – Engaging Young People in Active Learning’.

The students and staff started the convention in Hamilton then moved to Tihoi where they made fires, toasted marshmallows, cooked pizzas, sang around the campfire, learned the low ropes course and walked through the bush. 

The visiting students were most excited about the food, meeting others, being in nature and were impressed at how spacious and scenic our campuses are.
