Tihoi 2019/2 return to home base

St Paul's Collegiate School —

Tihoi intake 2019/2 was recently welcomed back to the main campus in a special ceremony which saw the two Year 10 cohorts reunited for the first time this year.

The second intake group was welcomed back to the Chapel with a moving haka performed by their Year 10 peers, a gesture which they reciprocated.

The ceremony also farewelled those Year 9s who will be heading to Tihoi at the start of 2020.

In their graduation ceremony held at Tihoi in the days before, the intake's most outstanding students were recognised. They were:

  • Mortimer Trophy For Most Outstanding Student - Dylan Fletcher
  • Murray Harrington For Most Improved Student - Seetharam Jandhyala

Outgoing Tihoi Chief Instructor, Damien Firth, was also farewelled by the boys. As a mathematics teacher and Chief Instructor at Tihoi Venture School, Damien ensured the safety of our young men when they were on their outdoor adventures. He has been an instructor and teacher at Tihoi for 14 years. We wish him and his family all the very best as they move to Taranaki to be involved in a new outdoor school concept.
