Agricultural and Horticultural Science field trip for Year 12 students
St Paul's Year 12 students who are enrolled in Agriculture and Horticulture Science visited multiple agribusiness organisations as part of their Internal Achievement Standards. They visited: Hamilton's Livestock Improvement (LIC), Lilies by Blewden in Cambridge and Halter in Morrinsville. This experience allowed them to gain information on livestock and plant reproduction, production-associated management practices and career opportunities available in those sectors.
At LIC, students viewed and understood semen collection, learnt how to do bovine artificial insemination, and observed the science laboratory.
At Lilies by Blewden, students learnt about lily management practices and saw how to produce lilies.
At Halter, students gained an understanding of GPS livestock management practices and the technology that is associated.
