Lindisfarne and St Paul's Sports Exchange

St Paul's Collegiate School —

Lindisfarne College and St Paul’s Collegiate School engaged in a series of matches across multiple sports in their recent exchange in the Hawke’s Bay.

  • Cricket: The highlight of the exchange was the three-day cricket match between Lindisfarne College 1st XI and St Paul’s Development XI. Lindisfarne, batting first, set a challenging target of 240/7 in their first innings, with St Paul’s responding commendably with 161/10. Despite a valiant effort from the bowlers, St Paul’s fell short by 62 runs, ending at 144/10 in the final innings.

  • Colts Cricket: In the Colts cricket matches, St Paul’s experienced contrasting outcomes. In the T20 match, Lindisfarne dominated, efficiently chasing down a target of 55 runs. However, in the time cricket match, St Paul’s showcased improvement, restricting Lindisfarne to 120 all out and demonstrating resilience in their batting.

  • Tennis: St Paul’s tennis team faced a tough challenge against Lindisfarne’s higher-graded players. While individual performances from James Barton, Charlie Parlane, Fergus Hood, and Finn Pryor stood out, St Paul’s couldn't secure any doubles games, conceding the tennis side to Lindisfarne.

  • Golf: The golf match, following a Ryder Cup format, provided intense competition. Despite a promising start with a 2-2 score after foursomes and fourballs, St Paul’s faltered in the singles matches, resulting in a 5-3 victory for Lindisfarne.

The exchange between Lindisfarne College and St Paul’s proved to be a valuable experience for all involved, emphasizing sportsmanship and camaraderie. Despite mixed results across sports, St Paul’s teams exhibited resilience and improvement, setting the stage for competitive contests in future exchanges.
