Football caps awarded

St Paul's Collegiate School —

Caps are awarded to students involved in mainstream sports who reflect outstanding achievement in their particular sport, and the length of time a player has been in the team.

In his third season with the Football 1st XI, Jakob Merson has established himself as a strong leader amongst the group. A tenacious competitor, he never gives up, and it is this energy that inspires his teammates. Comfortable on the ball, calm under pressure and determined in all that he does, Jakob has been a fantastic servant to St Paul’s Football. In an injury plagued three years, he has played 52 times for the 1st XI and figured highly in the sport’s revival within the school.

Over the last two years, Jansen Cao has established himself as an integral player within the Football 1st XI squad. He is a tough competitor in the centre of the midfield, winning crucial tackles, as well as playing the role of architect in any offensive plays. In his 52 games for the St Paul’s 1st XI, he has scored eight times and set up countless other scoring opportunities. Jansen has a fantastic work rate, with his best performances coming against stronger opposition.
