Adventure racers qualify for national Get2Go champs

St Paul's Collegiate School —

An impressive effort by our combined St Paul's and Waikato Diocesan School for Girls team of junior adventure racers in August, they took out the top spot at the regional Torpedo7 Get2Go challenge.

Four St Paul's/Dio teams competed in the annual challenge. Only the winning team out of 24 goes on to the national final. The day involved racing mountain bikes and stand-up paddleboards, as well as a tough problem-solving activity, followed by a running navigation race.

All teams performed exceptionally well, but it was Riley Wills, Tom Scanlon, Alex Purdie and Taiki Lynn's team who took out the event - amassing 398 points out of a possible 400.

This qualified their team to compete on Great Barrier Island at a gruelling five-day national final in December.

The other St Paul's students who competed placed as follows:

  • Marcus Pomare, Atlas Loutfi, Ben Haskell, Milan Hood - 330 points
  • Dylan Thomas, Cole Brennan, Jerry Pereira, Jack Thomas - 298 points
  • Harry Ward, George Mackintosh, Elliot Dixon - 281 points
