Girls' Hockey season continues

St Paul's Collegiate School —

Hockey season continues and our Girls' 1st XV are giving it their all week to week. Here's a rundown of their latest two games...

St Paul's Girls' 1st XV v Waikato Diocesan, Wed 5 June

A solid first half by St Pauls girls restricted Dio to one goal to be 1-nil down at half time. While continuing to work hard in the second half, St Pauls was unable to capitalise on opportunities and conceded five goals. The final score was 6-0 to Dio.

Player of the day Lara Beveridge for grit and determination on defence.

St Paul's Girls' 1st XV v Matamata College, Wed 19 June

The Girls' 1st XI hockey travelled to play Matamata College on Wednesday 19 June. The first half saw Matamata take an early lead but St Pauls was quick to level the score through a brilliant field goal to Jess Scatchard. Unfortunately, St Pauls were unable to score again while Matamata added three goals to their tally to take a 4-1 lead into half time.

The second half St Paul's dominated throughout, being strong on defence led by player of the day Kate Healy and Lara Beveridge, making good connections through Ayla Hall in midfield who scored first in this half for St Paul's followed by a second goal to Jess and with some great saves by Kitty Storey in goal Matamata remained scoreless. Final score 4-3 to Matamata.
