Drake Walther (Year 13) recently competed in the Bay of Plenty Powerlifting Championships where he placed first in the youth and junior U69 kg category, setting an unofficial New Zealand record.

He then went on to compete at the North Island Championships which he also won, beating his previous record.

He has now qualified for nationals and hopes to make the New Zealand Powerlifting team and compete at Oceania later this year.
