ANZAC Tournament brings hundreds of hockey enthusiasts

St Paul's Collegiate School —

St Paul's hosted the annual ANZAC Hockey Tournament during the school holidays. Hundreds of hockey enthusiasts from schools all over the North Island embarked on the campus to play some excellent hockey. 

The week was a positive start to the season with both the St Paul's Girls' First XI and Boys' First XI teams competing. St Paul's looked to test itself against some of the strongest hockey schools in the country and the platform was laid for the teams to grow competitively.

Girls' First XI
Iona College: 2 - 1 win
New Plymouth Girls' High School: 4 - 0 loss
Baradene College: 3 - 0 win
Kings College: 2 - 2 draw
Napier Girls' High School: 3 - 1 loss

Boys' First XI

The Boys' First XI is a young and inexperienced team looking for growth from the competition. 

St Kentigern College: 3 - 0 loss after three second-half goals to St Kent's
King's College: 4 - 0 loss
Hutt International Boys: 3 - 0 loss
New Plymouth Boys' High: 6 - 0 loss
Hastings Boys' High School: 3:1 loss. Despite losing 3-1, the boys were more confident and competitive throughout the entire game. Mathew Verry scored the goal for St Paul's with a powerful strike from a small angle.
