Boys' hockey season kicks off

The 1st XI Hockey boys got their season underway on Wednesday 17 June with a friendly game against a team made up of premier club players in the Waikato.

The St Paul’s boys held their own in the first half, creating some quality goal-scoring opportunities. However, the speed and strength of the club player’s team started to take its toll in the second half. St Paul’s eventually going down 5-0. A good result considering it was our first game and the quality of the opposition.

Girls' hockey season underway

The girls 1st XI hockey got their delayed season underway on Wednesday 17 June with a friendly game against Sacred Heart 1st XI.

While it took both teams some time to find their way, Sacred Heart showed their strength through a goal late in the first quarter, followed by one in the second quarter and two in the third, while St Paul's was unable to reply.

The final quarter was better from St Paul's girls' point of view as they defended better and had more scoring opportunities, despite not being able to find the back of the net. Final score 4-0 to Sacred Heart.

Players of the day were Jazz Russell and Fiona Su.
