Senior Girls Basketball Team by St Paul's Collegiate School

Student Success Snippets

The Senior Girls' Basketball Team faced a tough challenge as they competed against Ngaruawahia in the division finals. Despite having only five players available, the team displayed remarkable determination and resilience throughout the game. The lead changed hands a few times, creating an intense and thrilling atmosphere. However, in the second half, St Paul's took control of the game and secured a commendable 58-51 victory.

Sinea Fraser (Year 13) competed at the Waikato Championships for Kyokushin Karate where she won first place in her division. She then placed 2nd in the 16 - 17 year old Girls over 55kg Competition.

Renee Carey (Year 13) competed at the NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs held at Palmerston North late June. She ran a solid race in the Individual Senior Girls race over 4km, placing 42nd out of 117 competitors.

The following day, Renee was chosen to compete for the WaiBOP Senior Mixed Team relay. The team consisted of two boys and two girls who raced in a relay with each team member running 2km. All members of the team ran strongly to place third.

During June, Preston Sykes, Conrad Jackson, Ray-Ven Tipene (Year 13s) and Ben Kibby (Year 12) each received their Rugby Cap which is awarded for playing a minimum of 20 games in a starting position. Blake Finlayson (Year 13) received a Rowing Cap in recognition for rowing a minimum of three seasons and being a regular crew member in the School's U18 premier rowing teams. Congratulations to these students for outstanding achievement.

Collegians Tapea Cook Savage (New Zealand 7s), Gideon Wrampling (Chief #344) and Liam Allen (Lyon Club - France) returned to school to share skills with current students.

There was a lovely moment for the Agribusiness Team at Fieldays to celebrate ten years of Agribusiness in Schools. There was a cake to share with Mr Grant Lander, Mrs Allen and Tony Egan of Greenlea Meats.
