Waikato Regional Debating Competition by St Paul's Collegiate School

Students compete in Waikato Regional Debating Competition

On Sunday 13 March, St Paul's Collegiate School entered six teams into the Waikato Regional Debating Competition.

Considered the most prestigious competition of the year, teams are put through a gruelling nine hours of debating over three rounds. Congratulations to Emily Jin (Year 13), Keyan Asadi (Year 13), and Joanna Li (Year 13), who made it through to the semi-finals but unfortunately was out-debated.

Joanna was selected as a reserve member for the Waikato Regional Representative Team, and Emily was awarded a "Highly Commended Speaker."

Despite being her first debate, Jessica Goldsmith (Year 12) was selected for the Waikato Development Team and offered specialised coaching to prepare for debating at regional or national team selections.

Well done to our competitive debaters.
