Te Wiki o te Reo Maaori - what a week
What an incredible journey it's been, celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Maaori with our tauira (students) this year. Students ran a competition, organised traditional games and recorded whakatauki for community while our staff members learned and shared pepeha.
At our memorable assembly on the final day, our Te Kaea prefects, James Milroy and Roimata Callaghan-Bristowe shared their wisdom on how we can continue to embrace te Reo throughout the year, making it an integral part of our lives with an invitation to do more all year around.
The Kapa Haka Group sang a beautiful waiata which was shared on social media and reached and touched the hearts of people all around the world.
He aha te mea nui
He aha te mea nui o te ao
Maku e kii atu
He tangata, he tangata,He tangata, hei!
What is the most important thing
In this world
I will reply to you
It is people, it is people, it is people!
