In May, at the Cambridge BMX Club AGM, Rico D’Anvers was awarded “Sportsperson of the Year” for the Cambridge BMX Club. He is the only person to have received this trophy three times since its origin in 1984. 

Also in May, Rico trialled at a BMX camp weekend in Te Awamutu and was successfully selected as a member of the “Cycling NZ National BMX Performance Hub”, based at the Avantidrome in Cambridge. Rico was selected as Reserve Rider to represent New Zealand at the BMX World Championships in Baku. 

Over Labour Weekend Rico competed at the North Island Championships in Auckland and in late October, he travelled to Thailand for a week to attend an International UCI C1 BMX competition, held just out of Bangkok.
